QuickCollar Celebrates First Anniversary and Nationwide Growth of Rescue Pro

Denver-based water rescue innovator marks one year in business as RescuePro reaches fire-rescue and law enforcement agencies nationwide

Denver - Colorado, September 18, 2026

QuickCollar, Inc. is celebrating its first anniversary this September, marking a year of rapid growth for a water-rescue technology more than 20 years in the making.

Inventor Kenney Pierce created the QuickCollar concept in San Diego to address a persistent challenge in water rescue: how to reach, stabilize and retrieve a drowning victim while reducing the need to put the rescuer into the water. The technology has already been used successfully by San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies in an ice rescue that kept first responders off the ice.

In September 2025, Pierce teamed with Denver-based Tatonka Capital Corporation, founded in 1993 by Carol S. Hansen. Tatonka has financed more than $1 billion in business-to-government transactions, bringing decades of government-market experience and resources. QuickCollar, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tatonka, was born.

In its first year, the company has manufactured hundreds of RescuePros, shipped dozens of no-cost demo units to fire-rescue and law enforcement agencies nationwide, and begun delivering production units across the country.

RescuePro is an automatically inflatable, cinchable rescue collar providing approximately 25 pounds of buoyancy, combined with a throwable water-rescue rope system. A victim can simply hook an arm through the inflated collar for immediate flotation. When greater security is needed, the collar can be placed over the head and under the arms and cinched around the upper torso for retrieval. Its inflatable design secures the victim without the risk of broken ribs associated with rigid cinching systems.

RescuePro can be thrown or lowered from shore, bridges, steep embankments or canal banks; used in swift water, floods, ice and low-head dams; deployed for downstream safety; or separated from the rope bag and flown to a victim by drone. When water entry is necessary, a rescue swimmer can take a pre-inflated collar to the victim while remaining tethered to shore.

The objective is simple: reach the victim quickly, provide flotation, secure them when necessary, and keep rescuers out of the water whenever possible.

Qualified departments can receive a RescuePro demo unit with five complimentary rearm kits to test the system in their own rescue environments.

“We have spent years imagining different ways RescuePro could be used,” said Pierce. “Now the exciting part is putting RescuePros into the hands of professional rescuers around the country and watching them discover applications we may never have thought of ourselves.”

QuickCollar’s mission is equally simple: put RescuePro into the hands of as many first responders and rescue teams as possible to keep rescuers safe and save more lives.
